One of Our OwnDecember 9, 2011 by Artworks Tulsa Photography | Wedding
Every now and then we run across a love story so sweet that we just have to share it. Such is the case with our very own Melodi Foster. Melodi has been a part of the Artworks team in a variety of roles for four years, most recently as a staff photographer. She and her groom, Tony tied the knot on 9/10/11, one of the most popular wedding dates this year. To ensure that Melodi got extra star treatment, we even enlisted our super-talented friends Andrea Murphy of Andrea Murphy Photography and Lisa Dunham of LSD Photography to help us cover the event. Since this wedding was photographed by three of Tulsa’s finest, you’ll see pictures from Rebecca, Andrea and Lisa in this post.
As Melodi was one of our very own, we had double the fun shooting her wedding. Her own experience with photography set the direction for many shots- we love it when brides have an idea for a pose or a prop! We’ll get to the details, but first, the scoop on this adorable couple:
Melodi and Tony started dating in 9th grade when she was a cheerleader and he was a football player at North Intermediate High School in Broken Arrow. After 10th grade the two decided to remain just friends throughout the rest of high school. When Mel went off to Oklahoma University, Tony kept in touch and often visited with friends. Around age 18, the two saw My Best Friend’s Wedding and made a pact to tie the knot if neither of them were married by age 28. Fast-forward to 2008, when the two were 26 and they started dating again, both with the pact in the back of their minds. In May 2010, Tony proposed at the very spot where they first met in 9th grade. The two planned a fall wedding and immediately chose the playful date of 9/10/11.
The love between Mel and Tony was almost tangible as their amazing story opened to a whole new chapter on 9/10/11. Their wedding was replete with personality and details, many of which Melodi designed herself, along with a strong representation from some of Tulsa’s best wedding vendors. The ceremony and reception were held at The Silo Center. The bridal party dressed and the couple stayed on site at the Cedar Rock Inn. The event was catered by the Silo’s awesome Chef Jeff, the cake was by Icing on the Top and topped with a caketopper made by the bride herself. The DJ and lighting were provided by Edge Sight & Sound. Flowers were by Petite Fleur. Melodi also made the flags for pecan tossies, everything on the card table, and the fan programs with some help from her bridesmaids.
Mel put a super sweet spin on tradition with her personal details. For something new, she wore a beautiful gown by Abelina’s Bridal Boutique of Tulsa. For something old, Melodi had her sister tie a ring into her corset. The ring was one Tony had given her in high school and she had saved it for more than 10 years. She borrowed Tony’s grandmother’s pearl necklace, and her darling shoes shouted “something blue!”
To Melodi and Tony, we wish you a lifetime of love and happiness. Thank you for allowing us to share in your day!
